Hypothesis-driven Research

Hypothesis-driven research is a highly efficient and productive strategy for drug discovery in which each molecule designed and tested generates valuable information that guides the decision pathway toward a meaningful outcome. Provid's implementation utilizes our creative insights in drug development to drive projects to a meaningful conclusion.

  • Each compound or series we pursue is chosen to generate meaningful information that increases our knowledge and moves toward the desired objective
  • We pursue short cycles of hypothesis, compound synthesis, and biological feedback so that project plans are validated or modified with each new set of data
  • For projects that have biostructural information available, we will design compounds that probe the target site within the constraints of the structure, or which are compatible with homologous structures
  • When structural information about a target or receptor is unavailable, we may look for pharmacophore insight from analogs that have features compatible with the desired receptor, but incorporate constraints to prevent off-target effects, or to direct the drug molecule to the target via site-directed modifications
  • In addition, we explore prodrugs and targeting strategies to improve drug properties and generate novel IP
