Peptides & Peptide Mimetics

Provid's expertise in peptides and peptide mimetics has broad utility in drug discovery, finding applications in many therapeutic categories and as a primary route to leads for inhibitors of protein-protein interactions.

Peptides are assemblies of amino acids, small relatives of proteins that are easily obtained and frequently identified as hits in early biological studies of a drug target.  However, natural peptides are not sufficiently diverse to cover all potential targets, and are generally poor drug candidates due to their ease of degradation by enzymes, low bioavailability, and lack of specificity.

Provid's peptide design approach and mimetics technology improve upon nature’s assembly of peptides from a limited set of 20 natural amino acids.  Using chemical synthesis methods and principles of drug design, we create novel mimetic building blocks that have intrinsic “drug-ability”, conformational constraints, and pathways of assembly that are not possible through natural processes.  The approach permits compounds to be highly diversified and optimized for many types of biological targets and for their drug-like properties.
